Vaclovas Augustinas is a conductor, composer, and educator. He graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with degrees in choral conducting (1981) and composition (1992). Since 1992, he has served as Artistic Director of the choir Jauna Muzika. Augustinas is a member of the Lithuanian Composers’ Union and the Lithuanian Choral Union, and he is a recipient of the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts (2010).

As an expert in choral music, Augustinas is frequently invited to international seminars for choral conductors, as well as to choral competitions and festivals. He is a regular member of the jury of the international composers’ competition Musica Sacra Nova. He is a highly regarded composer and arranger of choral music, whose award-winning works from various international competitions are widely performed by choirs and published by music publishers.

Rock music has also played an important role in his musical career. He was a keyboardist and composer for the well-known Lithuanian bands Saulės Laikrodis and Antis. Augustinas is an influential mentor to future professional musicians and serves as Professor at the Composition Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
