THE SECOND

The second Stasys Šimkus Choir Competition, which brought together 20 choirs from the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, and Klaipėda, took place in January 1977 and was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the composer’s birth. In addition to adult ensembles, choirs from Klaipėda city secondary schools also participated.

The laureates were: the mixed choir of the Klaipėda Meat Processing Plant (conductor Juozas Kubilius), the women’s choir of the Vilnius Medical Workers’ Club (conductor Vytautas Urbonavičius), the men’s choir of the Šiauliai Television Factory (conductor Romanas Andriuškevičius), the choir of K. Donelaitis Secondary School (conductor Ona Radzevičienė), the mixed choir of the 12th Secondary School (conductor P. Budrienė), and the choir of the 2nd Children’s Music School (conductor D. Adomavičienė).
